Digital Preservation
Objective:
There is a wealth of significant historical information at the Texier House Museum. We want to preserve that in digital format for future generations while also protecting what we have. This is a great opportunity for a student who is interested in history and is organized and meticulous. They will also have the opportunity to learn more about the history of Watchung. Some potential projects include:
Uploading/organizing Whispering leaves Newspaper Articles (including brief summary of what is in each article) and uploading them to our website.
Scan and organize (digitally) the current scrapbooks at the Texier House Museum.
Digital archive of photos. This would include scanning photos which have not yet been scanned yet and uploading photos which have been scanned to our working website.
Uploading and time stamping our current historical videos/interviews for YouTube.
Photographing and inventory of current displays and adding them to the working website (per room).
Responsibilities:
Sort and scan documents at the Texier House Museum in Watchung, NJ.
Upload scanned documents, as required, to a working website.
Qualifications:
Computer experience.
Creative and organizational skills.
Be meticulous and careful in handling irreplaceable original historical documents.
Able to work independently and be able to manage their time effectively.
This is an opportunity for a high school student or groups of high school students to showcase their talents while completing an important community service project.

This is an opportunity for a high school student or groups of high school students to showcase their talents preserve and organize documents currently at the Texier House. The project will allow for the development of an “online museum” that will essentially have all displays in the Texier House online for digital access.
